Reel 1 (silent): Coverage of the first big cycling meet of the 1966 season sponsored by Cypress Cycling Club at Pebble Beach. Road cyclists are seen riding the 50-mile event through Monterey area including 17-mile drive. Winner Tony McMillan from Berkeley crosses the finish line and is given a handshake.
Reel 2 (silent + sound): Coverage of the California Republican Assembly at San Jose's Civic Auditorium. Soundbites from candidates Ronald Reagan, George Christopher, William Penn Patrick, and Joseph Pace. Silent shots of crowd in auditorium. Further shots of delegates holding up placards supporting Jack Schall and Dick Darling for election of CRA officers. Shots of the lobby of the auditorium where delegates engaged in heated discussion with three passersby, one of whom identified himself as a communist. Delegates were ordered back to the auditorium when news cameras attempted to capture the scene. Several people attempted to restrain newsmen from filming.
